Just in case you didn’t notice, we released our re-recorded Bear in a Box E.P.

The original recordings were done mostly in our living room and weren’t exactly what we were going for. So we re-recorded them at Superpop Records in Austin, with the amazing Seth Gibbs. Then John McCaig at panicStudios did the mastering to give it that sheen.

AAaaaand we recorded a full-length, but we’re still working on that.

And now we are taking a break from our hectic live show schedule to write some new stuff. We’ve got some new ideas forming, with some new directions and ideas. So, come Fall, we’ll have a completely  new set with new songs.

In the meantime, get to know our new ep, Bear in a Box.

So this SXSW has ended and damn was it riDONKulous. It started out out at Epoch Cafe with a little difficulty here and there (OUR FUCKING KEYBOARD EXPLODED). Some people’s ears were injured, but mainly it was just us and our egos. We had to cancel the Monstrosity party which I am secretly still crying about.

The official showcase went rather well, albeit rushed as hell. No worries — later that night Bang Bang Eche played; and then as a collective mass of fervor, we completely took over a photobooth in the greenroom (pictures coming soon!) That was just Wednesday.

The nights were mainly us becoming creatures of the dark again. Plenty of this was spent drinking until the midmorning wind took us home, bunched up in strewn around blankets on the floor. Waking up was impossible yet feasible. Chilito’s breakfast tacos saved my life.

The next day we plartied with Mix Use Media at the BlogSludge party and then with Megafauna at the Bon-Fire madness ——- which was a badass show. That woman can shred the axe. Our set was rowdy and we got beer-mud all over our amps. People were inhaling drugs left and right, and wrestling 3 feet in front of us — apparently for a golden egg?

The cops eventually came to shut it down — but about 20 minutes after our set. It was ironic because we’re usually shut down almost as soon as the first synth note is played.

Friday’s Parlor show was phenomenal. We played with the Zorch guys and reveled at their touring-van. The cute girls next door loved us, and the pizza guy just stood there in complete awe. By the end of the set, my hands were bleeding.

We later saw Bear in Heaven, and all I can say is “THANK YOU”. The show was at a local pizzeria called Red House. I love this place because the people are awesome — the pizza is damn good — and the happy hour makes me love life THIS much more.

Saturday prettttttty much beat the crap out of us. We played 2 shows back to back, and then another one in the darkest, coldest hour of the night. The Moose Lodge this year was what we like to refer to as — a complete unutterably amazing ClusterFuck of over 65 bands. In order to calm frustrations — beer was free pretty much day and night. And with that, came the mayhem.

Many thanks to all of our friends who made it out to the shows to see us. We are forever grateful to our fans and those that support our music. Thank you and we wish you a million golden hearts.

Yesterday I put about 30 t-shirts into the oven. I only burned one of them.  It’s kind of neat to see a t-shirt with smoke coming out of the holes.  The rest made it out safely, and are awaiting another round of screen printing and glitter and baking. We pray for no more casualties.

Winter has been long. Usually at this point, in Austin, we are running our air conditioners and wearing shorts and getting ready to watch the  bodies at Barton Springs. It’s been wet, and cold, for far too long for my reptilian blood.  But it has been a good incubation. Lots of work has been done, lots of preparation, lots of scheming.  A good bit of time at Superpop Records, a good bit of time writing, practicing, dreaming. My bones ache for the spring, for SXSW to roll into town and bloom. March tends to set the tone for the rest of the year around here. A good SXSW experience creates momentum and inspiration that one can ride for months.  But, for now, we still share a cold bed with Winter.
